John J. Gordon, 86, Washington passed away at 5:12 p.m. at his residence on Wednesday. Born February 2,1927, in Washington, he was the son of Joseph and Lillian (Foust) Gordon. He graduated from Washington Catholic High School in 1945, he was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. He served in the United States Navy from 1945 -1946 and received his Masters Degree in Russian from Indiana University. John also studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts and worked at the library as a Soviet Acquisitions Specialist also in Cambridge. Before returning to his home town of Washington, John was employed at the school library of Congress in Washington D.C. as a Soviet Exchange Specialist. John was also co-owner of the Tuxedo Tavern with his brother, Charles, for many years. He is survived by one niece, Angie Lewandowski; five nephews, Joe Gordon, Chris Dobyns, Joe Dobyns, Stephen Dobyns and John Dobyns. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Stella Dobyns; and one brother, Charles Gordon.
