Marguerite V. Johnson, age 96, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, formerly of Washington, passed away on Saturday morning at United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville. She was born on February 15, 1917 in in Gibson County, Indiana to Edgar and Katie (Hardiman) Russell. She was a 1934 graduate of Lincoln High School in Princeton, Indiana. She had worked at Uniroyal and Superior Steel Ball. She also worked cleaning the court house. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, and was a RSVP volunteer for over 25 years. She is survived by two daughters and sons in-law, Beverly and Carl Curry of Lawrenceville, Illinois and Marilyn James Cole of Piscataway, New Jersey; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Johnson in 1978, whom she had married on March 28, 1936. She also was preceded I n death by one son, Gerald Johnson in 1973; four sister; and two brothers. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM central time on Wednesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Washington with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant.
