Everett R. Ballengee, age 71, of Washington, passed away at 3:54 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017 at his home. He was born on May 17, 1945 in Washington to Everett and Bessie (Rydenbark) Ballengee. He was a 1964 graduate of Washington High School. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the R.S.V.P. Volunteer Center. He had served in the United States Marine Corps from 1963 - 1967 and in Vietnam from 1965 - 1966 with the 1st Battalion 9th Marines. He attended Vincennes University where he was certified in Machine Technology. He volunteered as the bus driver for Washington Catholic sports from 1985 - 1993. He was a Cub Scout Leader at St. John Newburgh Vice President & President of St. John Men''s Club, Vice President & President of Washington Catholic Band Boosters and President of Washington Catholic school board. He had coached YMCA basketball and Washington Soccer Federation teams. He had been a licensed Soccer Referee and the Vice President of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. s most recently employed at Williams Brothers Pharmacy as a long term care driver. He was an avid Colts, Pacers, Notre Dame and IU Fan. His grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. He is survived by his wife Susan (Sinnott) Ballengee whom he married July 1, 1967; two sons, Craig (Jade) Ballengee of Washington, Chad (Suzanne) Ballengee of Montgomery; brother, Paul (Sherry) Ballengee of Washington; four grandchildren, Reece Ballengee, Anna Ballengee, Abby Ballengee and Aldin Robinson. He is preceded in death by his parents and also a brother, Eugene Ballengee. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Washington, Indiana, with Father Paul Ferguson as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery with Military graveside rites conducted by the Washington American Legion and the VFW . Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. on Thursday at Ed Lee Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the R.S.V.P.
