John David Mandabach

John David Mandabach (76) passed away peacefully on October 29th in Amherst New York. He is preceded by his parents, Catherine (Brewer) & Henry J. Mandabach , sister Henrietta and brother, Paul J. “Pete” Mandabach, all were lifelong residents of Washington Indiana.

David is survived by the love of his life and wife of 54 years, Mary (Helsel) Mandabach of Amherst NY, daughter and son in law Cheryl & Scott Peters of Rochester NY, daughter and son in law Susan & Jeff Blozen of Farmington NY, two grandsons, Johnathon & Anthony, two granddaughters Kaitlin & Kelsey, and two great grandsons Robbie & Benny.

David attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and was a graduate of Washington Catholic High School. He went on to earn a degree in Accounting from The University of Toledo and an MBA from Butler University. During his professional career in Corporate Finance he served as a Senior Executive Officer with corporations in California and New York. ’t have to make anything or sell anything. All he had to do was give advice-that’s easy. His favorite reply, when asked a real complex question was, “Well, I’m not very good with numbers, but……”

David was a resident of Penfield NY for 8 years before moving to Buffalo NY where he lived the last 30 years of his life. He was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and The Knights of Columbus, both of Amherst NY. The Tonawanda Sportsman’s Club, The Washington Indiana Conservation Club, The National Association of Enrolled Agents and the New York State Society of Enrolled Agents, Financial Executives International and the American Institute of Individual Investors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and listening to classical music. He was also an avid runner. When he retired he purchased two RV’s and kept one in Montgomery Lake IN and one in Gravel Ponds Sport Fishing Campgrounds in Spencerport NY. He always looked forward to hunting and fishing with his brother, Paul “Pete” Mandabach and with his lifelong buddies, John Decker (deceased) and Jerry Brochin. David leaves behind many happy memories with all his friends and family and will be dearly missed.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Ed Lee Mortuary Downtown Chapel, 101 North Meridian Street from 12:30-1:45 p.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery.
