Darrell Erwin, age 87, of Washington, passed away at 1:35 AM on Sunday, November 2, 2014, at the Washington Nursing Center. He was born on November 24, 1926 in Pike County to Norman Roscoe and Lena G. (Bradfield) Erwin. He was a World War II US Navy veteran where he served on the US Alabama. He was a retired truck driver. He was a member of the Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and the Washington Knights of Columbus. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and he loved playing card and working on woodworking projects. He is survived by three daughters and son in-laws, Linda and Mike Wichman of Washington, Nancy and Tony Jones of Huntsville, AL and Mary Jane Dress of Indianapolis; one son and daughter in-law, Richard J. and Debbie Erwin of Bloomington; one brother, William (Silvia) Erwin of Boonville; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Tango. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Thursday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Washington American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 on Wednesday with a wake service at 3:30 PM and a K of C rosary at 7:00 PM all at Ed Lee Mortuary.
