Ernestine "Ernie" M. (Michitsch) Klees passed away on June 3, 2013 at age 87, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. Ernie was born in Brooklyn, New York, to parents Hedwig and Ferdinand Michitsch. Ernie married the love of her life, William "Bill" Klees on June 12, 1948. Ernie is survived by her three children: Kathleen Gardner and spouse, Larry Gardner (recently deceased) in Stow, Ohio; Chris Tucker and spouse, Tom in Washington, Indiana; and Bill Klees and spouse, Yvonne in Evansville, Indiana. Ernie was widowed on September 24, 2001. Ernie is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Coughlin, who resides in Charlottesville, Virginia. Ernie was blessed with 7 grandchildren: Gary, Tricia and Tracy Gardner; Tommy Tucker and spouse Lauren; Mike and spouse Alisha Klees, Matt Klees, and Megan Klees; 2 step grandchildren, Kelly Jarvis and Cindy Pepper; 5 step great-grandchildren: Erin, Molly, and Blake Jarvis, and Nicole and Philip Pepper. Ernie had gorgeous penmanship, impeccable organization skills and memory, and kept a dedicated journal of all her travels and experiences. She was very involved in her community, in such organizations as Tri Kappa Sorority, Caring and Sharing, Welcome Wagon, Washington Country Club Ladies Golf League, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, and enjoyed a monthly wine and cheese afternoon with her dearest lady friends. Memorial contributions can be made to the Catholic Community of Washington, Daviess Community Hospital Foundation, and the Washington Country Club Ladies Golf Association. Visitation will be held Wednesday June 5, 2013 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church from 4 to 8 PM with a Tri Kappa Sorority memorial service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will also be from 8:00 to 9:45 AM at the church. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Our Lady Of Hope Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery. Ed Lee Mortuary in handling arrangments.
