Thomas Floyd 'Tom' Craney, age 88, of Washington, passed away on Saturday at 12:32 PM at Eastgate Nursing Home. He was born on December 5, 1923 in Daviess County to J. Herman and Mary (Williams) Craney. He was a 1941 Graduate of Montgomery High School. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Washington American Legion. He was retired from the Montgomery US Post Office as a rural postal carrier after thirty five years. As post carrier he knew people on his route by first, middle and last names. He was a very loving and patient man. He is survived by his wife, Leone M. (Lynch) Craney whom he married April 9, 1988; three daughters and sons in-law, Linda and Arnold Sussman of St. Louis, Mo., Mary Ann and Mark Walton of Bloomington, and Janet and Brad Steimel of Lake Mary, Fl.; three sons and daughters in-law, Fred and Janice Craney of Washington, Jeff and Beverly of Naperville, Il. , and Tim Craney of Indianapolis; two step daughters, Cathy Lynch Kendall of Washington, Shannon Schwandner of Florida; four step sons, Pat Lynch of Anchorage, Alaska, Terry Lynch of Arizona, Danny Lynch of California, Dennis Lynch of Washington; two b...[more]

hers, Jack Craney of Montgomery and Jerry Craney of Indianapolis; one sisters, Carolyn Bouchie of Washington; twelve grandchildren; several step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie (Watson) Craney, whom he married on May 4, 1943, on February 19, 1985; two brothers, Howard Craney and Merle Craney; two sister Joan Wallner and M. Alma Jones; and two step sons, Michael Lynch and Timothy Lynch. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church with Father James Koressel as celebrant. Burial will follow in St Peter Cemetery with Military Graveside rites by the Washington American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday at Ed Lee Mortuary with a K of C Rosary at 7:30 PM.
