Leo Schlotter, age 76, of Washington, passed away on Thursday morning, September 6, 2018.
He was born on June 3, 1942 in Washington to Frank and Eleanor (Turk) Schlotter. He graduated from Washington High School in 1960. Leo was a graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana earning a B.S. in Business while completing his education he was also commissioned a second lieutenant through the Army ROTC, in 1964. Colonel Schlotter’s initial active duty assignment began at Camp St. Barbara, Korea, next came Ft. Sill, Oklahoma followed by six Army Reserve assignments at different posts from 1967 – 1993, serving 29 ½ years of service. During this time, his dedication to excellence led him to receive many awards and decorations. Colonel Schlotter was also invited to attend the exclusive Amy War College and graduated in 1989. Leo joined Schlotter Cabinets where he designed and built cabinets of all kinds for homes and business. He enjoyed his dogs, mostly German Shepherds, watching the Hatchets and I.U. basketball games, camping, boating and also taking pictures of boat races for Propeller magazine.

) Schlotter, whom he married, February 17, 1968; son, Chad (Jennifer) Schlotter of Noblesville, Indiana; daughter, Mandy (Carl) Boyles of University Heights, Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren, Katelyn, Kyle and Kolden Schlotter and Ella and Grayson Boyles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Eleanor Schlotter; sister, Lowanna Binkley.
A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM on Monday at Ed Lee Mortuary Downtown Chapel, 101 North Meridian Street, Washington, Indiana with Yvonne Evans officiating. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery with military graveside rites by the US Army Funeral Honor Team, Washington American Legion and VFW.
Visitation will from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Ed Lee Mortuary Downtown Chapel.
