Sherrill L. Elliott, age 91, of Washington, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 3:28 a.m. at Hillside Manor Nursing Home.
He was born on August 1, 1926 in Oolitic to Lacy and Inez May (Allison) Elliott. He graduated from Oolitic High School in 1944, and was a US Army Veteran serving in WWII. His work career included sales positions for Donaldson Bread which lead him to the Washington area in 1959, then Chesty Potato Chips for ten years. From there he was hired to manage the first Kentucky Fried Chicken in Washington and in 1979 he started a night management position at Hersh’s IGA where he had retired. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and the VFW.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary. Entombment will be in the Sugarland Memory Garden Mausoleum. Military graveside rites will be held by the Washington American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
