Carl Eugene Edwards

Gene Edwards, age 77 of Washington, passed away May 3, 2015 at 1:05 a.m. He was born September 10, 1938 in Washington to Mary Louise (Mangin) and Carl Reed Edwards. He was a 1956 graduate of Wheatland High School and a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic church. He was a US Army Veteran and he retired from CSX. Gene loved fishing and mowing the lawn and loved to take special care of his flowers. Surviving are one brother, John (Sherry) Edwards of Washington, and one sister, Mary (Joseph) Egenolf of Trafalgar, IN, eight nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Pam Edwards of Oblong, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Charlie Edwards, a niece and a nephew. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John cemetery with full military rites by the Washington American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 - 8 pm at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with a wake service at 3:30 p.m.[more]
