Fred Fromme, 88, a life-long resident of Washington, died peacefully Friday , July 12, 2013, at his residence. He was born to Fred A. and Sarah (Waller) Fromme on September 11, 1924.His parents and his brother, Joe Fromme, preceded him in death. He was married to his wife for 63 years, until her death in October of 2011. A son, Larry Fromme, also preceded him in death in December 2012. He graduated from Washington High School in 1942 and was an Army veteran. In his early career, he worked at the news desk of the Washington Herald and then work at the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. He was the owner /broker of Fred Fromme Insurance and Real Estate Agency for many years. During that time, he was elected vice president of the Indiana Realtor's Association. He also owned Fred Fromme Tax Service for over 50 years. He was a devoted member of the Catholic Community of Washington., served three terms as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and was the recipient of the Laetare Award in 1986. He also leaves two great grandchildren and special niece and nephews, Jane, John, and Joe Fromme, all of Colorado A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Gordon Man as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Washington American Legion and VFW. . Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday with a wake service at 4 PM.
