Floyd L. Tuggle

Floyd Lee Tuggle, 82 of Washington, IN, passed away peacefully the early morning of May 23, 2017 at Daviess Community Hospital while surrounded by family. Floyd was born January 11, 1935 in Troy IN to Floyd Luddy Tuggle and Clara (Linne) Tuggle. He married his wife of 63 years, Marguerite F. (Anderson) Tuggle on December 5, 1953 in Birmingham, England, who survives. Floyd retired from the Daviess County Highway Department in 2000. Floyd is also survived by his four children, Neil A. of Tenino WA, Lee E. (Denise) of Vincennes IN, Daniel E. (Amy) of Washington IN and Lisa Tuggle Lowery of Westfield IN. Surviving grandchildren are Lendi Marie (Derek) Eskew of Washington IN, Andrew Tuggle Quinet of Chicago IL, Mollie Catharine Roder and Thomas Lee Lowery of Westfield IN, step-grandchildren Zachary and Adam Sponn. Great-grandchildren include Breah Danielle and Brayden Derek Eskew of Washington IN. Floyd is also survived by his brothers Robert, Jack and Pat, and multiple nieces and nephews, all of Troy IN. while serving in the US Army from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean War as Sergeant in the US Army. During his service time, Floyd was stationed in England, which is where he met Marguerite.
As a lifetime member of the NRA, Floyd was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising hunting dogs. He loved to cook and share his wild game feasts with family and friends.
A member of the Knights of Columbus, Floyd served as Commander with the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and was also a member of many local clubs. Floyd was very active with volunteerism with both the KofC and the Catholic school and church system. Visitation is Friday, May 26 from 12:30 PM – 4:15 PM at Our Lady of Hope Church, 315 NE 3rd Street, Washington IN 47501. A Celebration of Life mass will be held following visitation at 4:30 PM. Floyd’s cremated remains will be interred at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Washington IN immediately after the Mass. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Washington American Legion and the VFW.
