Jerry E. Rider, age 71, passed away August 5, 2014 at the Daviess Community Hospital. He was born on September 7, 1942 to Georgia Fern (Gardner) and Homer William "Spot" Rider. He was a graduate of WHS in 1961 and was enlisted in the U.S. National Guard. Jerry owned Rainey''s Sporting Goods for 21 years then ventured on to work for B & O Railroad for almost 10 years. He retired from the City of Washington as a Water Superintendent and was awarded the Water Superintendent of the year for the State of Indiana. Jerry loved to stay busy by helping others with whatever projects they may have going on. He was a member of the Faithway Baptist Church. Jerry is survived by his wife Mary "Janet" (Wade) who he married on January 28, 1967; sons and their spouses Bentley (Jean) and Brock (Julie) all of Washington; five step grandchildren and three step great- grandchildren; and his beloved dog "Asia". He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Don Rider, John Rider, Charlie Rider, and his twin brother George who passed away at birth.
