Genevia A. Riney age 89, of Washington, passed away Friday at 10:36 p.m. at Washington Nursing Center. She was born July 16,1919 in Dubois County to Joe and Barbara (Prechtel) Mathies. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella. She attended Montgomery Schools and was an Avon representative for over 25 years. She was a promoter of the Miraculous Metal for over 45 Years. She and her husband, Leo was married on May 5th 1945 by Fathers Howard Murphy and Nord. She is survived by five brothers, Othmar Mathies and Robert Mathies both of Jasper, Ernie Mathies, Donald Mathies, and Delmar Mathies all of Loogootee; one sister, Ardella Norris of Washington; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Riney on March 16, 2002. Also deceased is a brother Vic Mathies; and one sister, Doris Burger. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ed Lee Mortuary with a wake service at 4:00 PM.[more]
