Donald Craney

Donald W. Craney, age 85, of Montgomery passed away on Thursday at 3:27 PM at Jasper Memorial Hospital. Born March 1, 1924 in Martin County he was the son of William W. and Hazel (Todd) Craney. He was a World War II Army 36th Infantry veteran. He was retired from NWSC Crane and Vigiro Industries. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Montgomery Ruritian Club of which he was a past president, Washington Knights of Columbus, Washington American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans. Surviving is his wife, Betty (Toy) Craney, whom he married October 12, 1950; one son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Rita Craney of Washington; five daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and William Baker Jr. and Mary and Ron Morgan all of Washington, Sharon and Bob Ellis and Anna Craney all of Montgomery, and Linda and John Divine of Loogootee; one brother, Edmund Craney of Loogootee; five sisters, Bernadette Abel of Washington, Patsy Frye of Odon, Margie Feagans of Loogootee, Helen "Deanie" Trowbridge of Washington, and Dorothy Benjamin of Lyons; fourteen grandchildren, Chad Craney of Washington, Audrey Talbert of Montgomery, Brian Baker and Bryana Baker both of Washingto...[more]

Brent Baker of Washington, Anita Ellis, Christina Ellis, and Michael Ellis all of Montgomery, Jamie Divine of Shoals, Michelle Ash, and Andrea Divine both of Loogootee, Becky Meyer of Jasper, and Ryan Morgan and Casey Morgan both of Washington; seven great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Craney, Brock Craney, Logan Craney, Wyatt Baker, Avery Baker , Cale Baker all of Washington, and Addison Talbert of Montgomery; one great grandchild due to arrive in June. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Leo Craney and Martin T. Craney, and a sister, Marie Arvin. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday at St. Peter Catholic Church with Father Jim Koressel and Father Gordon Mann as con-celebrants. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery in Montgomery. Full military graveside rites will be conducted by the Washington American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be 3 to 8 PM on Monday at St. Peter Catholic Church with a Knights of Columbus and Parish Rosary at 3 pm at St. Peter Catholic Church. Visitation will also be on Tuesday from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at St Peter Church.
