Robert "Bob" Granger, 74, of Washington, died Wednesday, April 2, at 5:05 am at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. He had been ill for awhile, but death was unexpected. Born February 1, 1940, in Wheatland, IN, he was the son of the late Samuel and Christine (Whitfield) Granger Jr. He was educated in Knox County School System and graduated in 1957. He served in the U.S Army from 1963 -1965 and was stationed in Italy. While enlisted, he played on the Army baseball team. He worked at McCords and Old Ben Coal Mine. He was a member of the UMWA Local 5179. As a member he was appointed to be an Arbitration Representative for fellow union members. Throughout his life, Bob was a positive contributor within his community. He played baseball in the 1970''s and in the 1980''s he coached youth Junior League, Senior League, and the Senior League All Star Baseball. He was a Chartered Member of the Optimist Club and a member of the Promise Keepers. In 1979, Bob accepted God''s call to the ministry and he worked diligently and earnestly as the Pastor of First Baptist Church of Wheatland until time of passing. 965; two daughters, Yolonda Bostic of Atadene, Ca. and Bobbie Granger of Washington; one son, Shane Granger; 8 grandchildren, Brandon (Elizabeth) Humphries of Washington, Perrin Granger of Washington , Brittany (Keionte) Copeland of Evansville, Caleb Murphy of Washington, Gianna Granger, Kenadi Granger, Karson Granger, and Kapri Granger all of Washington; 3 great-grandchildren Mia Humphries, Dolce Copeland, and Breckyn Ivers; one sister Phyllis (Granger)Morton of Washington. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Peggy Sue Granger. The funeral will be at 1p.m April 12 at Wheatland Christian Church with Rev. Joseph Owens officiating. Burial will be in Wheatland Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Washington American Legion and VFW. Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ed Lee Mortuary and after 11 a.m. April 12 at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Wheatland P.O.
