Alice 'Jean' Pridemore, age 87 of Washington passed away at 10:18 AM on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Washington Nursing Center. She was born on November 3, 1925 in Urbana, Illinois to Melvin and Iva (Claytor) Horton and after their deaths she was adopted by her aunt and uncle, Agnes and Robert Moore. After she graduated from Salem High School in Salem, Illinois in 1942 she took her first job with the B and O Railroad in Huron, Indiana as a telegraph operator. She worked at Daviess Community Hospital for a number of years before she retired. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by three daughters, Rebecca Lyn Woodruff of Vincennes, Mary Ruth Leonard of Washington, and Martha L. (Rick) Seal of Evansville; sister Janet Spillman of Washington; brother, Louis Moore of Washington; half-brother, James Rieser of Tucson, Arizona; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by husband, Maurice 'Glen' Pridemore on whom she had married on May 15, 1947.She also was preceded in death by her parents; and her adoptive parents.
