Mary Ellen Ritter

Mary Ellen Ritter age 85, of Washington, passed away at 7:00 PM on Friday April 4, 2014 at Eastgate Manor Nursing Home. She was born on January 5, 1929 in Petersburg to Owen and Pearl (Miller) Miley. A homemaker, She was a 1947 graduate of Petersburg High School. A lover of puzzles and Birds, she also loved mystery novels and spending time with family. She is survived by one daughter and son in-law, Mari Lynn and Sam smith of Washington; one son and daughter in-law, Bruce Steven and Cheryl Ritter of Albany, Georgia; four grandchildren, Christopher Ritter, Jennifer (Rob) Griffin, all of Albany, Nate and Allison Smith of Washington, and Joshua Dobbs of Florida; seven great grandchildren; and one niece and three nephews. Her husband, Bruce N. Ritter whom she had married on November 24, 1947, preceded her in death on November 13, 1998. She also was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Smith; three sisters, Dorothy Stewart, Dolores Wright-Walker, and Elizabeth Stone; and an infant brother, Glen Miley.
