Vanessa Lynn Burton, 44, died of a sudden illness at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville. Born December 13, 1963 in Washington, she was the daughter of James Keany Burton Sr., and Alice S (Arnold) Burton Apple. Vanessa Attend The Hillcrest School in Vincennes until it closed and then Washington, In Community Schools where she graduated to Red Door Industries in Washington and then attended ARC of Evansville. She had a love for basketball and animals and her favorite time of the year was Christmas. Vanessa was a member of the former St. Simon''s church and has attended various churches since relocating to Evansville. She is survived by her mother and her stepfather Gerald R. Apple of Jasper; two sisters, Robin (Tim) McDonald of Washington; Sarah ( Robert) Timmons of Lafayette; and one brother, James Burton Jr. of Mount Vernon. Vanessa is also survived by five stepsisters, Lisa ( Fred) Knebel of Jasper, Mary Jil ( Phil) Beckman of Jasper, Michelle (Bill) Kress of Jasper, Linda ( Allen) Huebner of Jasper, Staci ( Eric) Smith of Holland; and two step brothers, Scott( Susie) Apple of Indianapolis, Keven Apple of Indianapolis; and many nieces and nephews....[more]

nessa will be missed by a very special extended family, her caregivers and friends at the Windemere Group Home in Evansville. She is preceded in death by her father, James Keany Burton Sr. The funeral will be at 1:30p.m. Saturday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with Rev. Donald Ackerman officiating.
