Leon Riney

Leon Riney age 84 of Washington passed away on Wednesday at 10;45 AM at Washington Nursing Center. He was born on May 4, 1922 in Washington to the late James and Lucy (Wathen) Riney. He was a world War II Army Veteran and was a Member of St. Simon Catholic Church. After the war he worked for Graham Farms as a truck driver till he and his twin brother Leo went into partnership on the Phillip 66 Service Station together in early 60s. He also drove a school bus for a number of years. After he and Leo sold the service station he went to work for Nolan's Liquor Store after retiring from Nolan's he worked part time as a greeter at Wal-Mart. Leon was a member of St Simon Catholic Church, Washington American Legion, Knights of Columbus and Washington F.O.P. Surviving are two sons and daughters in-law. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM as St. Simon Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery with Military graveside rites by Washington American Legion and VFW.
