Jimalea Turk, age 78, of Washington, passed away on April, 18, 2018 at 6:28 a.m. at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.
Mrs. Turk was born on May 15, 1939 in Washington to James and June (Dunn) Lents. She graduated from Washington High School in 1957. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Oakland City University in 1972 and a master’s degree from Indiana State University in Terre Haute in 1977. Jimalea retired as a teacher after 33 years of teaching in the Washington Community Schools. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Turk of Washington, whom she married, August 8, 1959; son; Jeff (Lisa) Turk of Fort Mill, South Carolina; daughter, Kim Turk of Cary, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Taylor Turk and Lucas Valverde; sister, Jennifer Knoll of Plainfield.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Paul Ferguson as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Ed Lee Mortuar...[more]
There will be a Delta Kappa Gamma memorial service at 4:00 p.m.
