EAST BRUNSWICK - HAROLD SHULL died Sunday, January 28, 2018, at home. He was 75. Born on March 3, 1942, in Bath, NY, his family moved to Baltimore, MD, when he was a young child. It was there that he met his wife-to-be, Janice Mohr, at a local school dance. They were married on June 24, 1967, and moved to Cliffside Park, where they stayed for seven years, before relocating to East Brunswick in 1977. Harold was a renowned artist with a much diversified career, listed in Who's Who in the national register at the Library of Congress as a lifetime member. He began his career as a political and sports cartoonist for the Baltimore News American, moving on to New York City as an Illustrator. As luck would have it, he found a steady income in the toy field, designing packages and toys for such companies as Knickerbocker, Mego, and HG Toys. While designing hundreds of toy packages, Harold was also developing his painting style by illustrating these packages. enjoyed painting portraits of people and animals and as a result of his popular realistic style he has paintings in the private collections of Bob Hope, Johnny Unitas, Steve Allen, J. Randolph Hearst, Sharon Himes, Blaze Starr, Eddie Arnold, Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood, John Crowther, Julie Adams, Basil Gogos, Brooks Robinson and many others of equal prominence. He taught a computer art class at Rutgers University for one year and spent his last five years or so teaching art classes at the East Brunswick Senior Center. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Janice Mohr Shull; his daughter, Tracey Zayas and her husband, David, of Glassboro; two sons, Eric Shull and his wife, April, and their son, Ethan, of Astoria, NY, and Kevin Shull and his wife, Monique, and their children, Harper and Chase, of Hillsborough; two brothers, Ronald Shull and his wife, Mary Ann, of Bridgeport, WV, and Lyle Shull and his wife, Kathleen, of Baltimore, MD. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 2nd, 10am, at The BRUNSWICK MEMORIAL HOME, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.
