Philip A. "Beetle" Christensen

Born August 3, 1940, Philip Arthur Christensen was the 3rd son of Arthur and Norma (Villa) Christensen. He was baptized and confirmed in the American Lutheran Church. He attended Wilder School through 8th grade and Windom School through 10th grade. He worked various jobs building pole barns and driving truck until he was drafted in the Army in 1963 at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Then he was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, where he earned his GED and was discharged in 1965. He continued to drive truck for others until he bought his own and was owner-operator until 1986. He then drove gas transport from 1986 until 1995 when he became disabled. Philip married Karen (Johnson) Schultz on May 10, 1986 at the American Lutheran Church Chapel where they both were longtime members. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion. Philip loved to joke, laugh, and give everyone a bad time. He used to enjoy deer hunting and fishing until he could no longer do it. He enjoyed visiting with family, friends, reading, and watching TV. Philip loved spending time with his son and granddaughter. was very hard for him. Beetle hadn't felt good the summer and fall of 2013. In November, after several tests, he was diagnosed with metastisized lung cancer. He was put on hospice care at home. On Tuesday, January 14th, he was taken to the Windom Hospital and Thursday, January 16th he was taken to the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom. He went to be with the Lord early Monday morning, January 20th. He leaves behind his wife, Karen Christensen of Windom; son, Shane (Skeeter) Schultz of Windom; granddaughter, Nicole Schultz of Allendale, MI; cats, Sammy and Snoopy; brother, Roger Christensen and his wife, Pat, of Farmington; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews and many cousins. Philip was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Curtiss and Arlan Christensen. Blessed be the memory of Beetle. May he rest in peace.
